If there is one phrase that embodies why I chose to become a Naturopath, it’s the old Catalan proverb “from the bitterness of disease man learns the sweetness of health”.
I’m Ali, a Naturopath who discovered my calling after leaving a demanding career in financial analysis. My own health struggles—burnout, insomnia, frequent illness, hormone issues, and gut problems—led me to seek help from a Naturopath, and my life was transformed completely.
What inspired me the most on my journey was how many more options were available to people with chronic illnesses than were being offered: we’re often told “there’s nothing you can do about this, you just have to live with it”, which is just not the case. I’m passionate about helping those whose quality of life is greatly affected by illness, especially when traditional avenues have left them feeling hopeless.
So, I went back to my roots (my first degree was in medical sciences) and returned to student life. It was a long journey, but I loved every minute of it – learning about the body is my absolute obsession, and one of my favourite parts of my job is that I get to keep learning every single day.
